Feature & Follow #48

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This week's question:

What do you do with your books after you are done reading them?

That's easy. I sit them on my bookshelf, and on occasion, revisit them, or maybe even re-read them. If I have time.

Swoon Thursday # 49 - If I Die

The fabulous girls over at YA Bound created this super HOT meme.

Here's how it works. From the book you're currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag#YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog!

My Swoon for this week comes from:

If I Die
(Soul Screamers #5)

by
Rachel Vincent

First - The Blurb:

The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee's no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee—she screams when someone dies.

But the next scream might be for Kaylee.

Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.

But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.

Second - The Swoon:

"What if that wasn't enough to do the trick?" I whispered, made bold by the blatant need churning in his eyes. "What if I were persistently bad?"

"That might require a stronger approach." He leaned toward me and dropped a series of tiny, hot kisses down my neck, headed for my collarbone. I reached up with my free hand to feel his hair - the curls were so soft - and his left hand found the slight curve of my hip, fingers pressing into my skin beneath the hem of my shirt, like they wanted more than they could possibly find there.

"I don't think this is fixing your little problem," I whispered, as his hand wandered slowly over my waist and toward my ribs, over my shirt now.

Tod straightened and gave me a frown. "You should be careful, tossing descriptors like that around in a situation like this. My 'problem' isn't small."

Third - My Thoughts:

So, what did I think of this one? Well, it was no surprise to me that Kaylee and Nash's relationship would eventually fall apart. I mean, after Nash's addiction to Demon Breath and the things he did while he was under the influence, Sabine's constant presence, and Kaylee's trust issues, they didn't really stand a chance of making it work.

Was I disappointed that things didn't turn out for them? Yeah, I was. I like Nash and I kind of felt sorry for him when their relationship ended.

How do I feel about Tod? Let's just say, he's growing on me more and more.

My rating: 4 out of 5

This week's Tease comes from:

My Soul To Steal
( Soul Screamers #4)

by
Rachel Vincent

First - The Blurb:

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

Second - The Tease:

In that moment, I just didn't care about the roadblocks thrown up by my brain, my heart and my body were committed to crashing through them. So I set the hard question aside and focused on Nash. On the warmth of his fingers wrapped around mine and his free hand sliding up my arm and over my shoulder to cup the back of my head.

My mouth opened against his, and I welcomed him back, while my body welcomed back the heat he awoke in me, which had lain largely dormant over the past three weeks. But Nash was very careful, his eagerness very controlled. He was hyperaware of my boundaries, and reluctant to even approach them after what had happened the last time.

His caution was both a blessing and a curse. It was like trying to scratch an itch with gloves on.

Third - My Thoughts:

Well, I must say, Rachel sure knows how to keep the story interesting. In My Soul To Steal, Kaylee and Nash's relationship is no longer as rock solid as it was. While Nash is fighting his addiction to Demon Breath, Kaylee is busy trying to decide whether to forgive him or not. And if she can ever trust him again.

Enter Sabine - Nash's ex. Desperate to reunite with Nash after having spent two years apart, Sabine becomes Kaylee's worst nightmare - literally. Do I like Sabine? Only marginally. She is both irritating and infuriating. Do I wish she'd disappear? Not necessarily. She keeps the story entertaining.

And Avari, well, he's still up to his tricks trying to find ways to lure Kaylee into the Nether so that he can claim her soul. Does he succeed? Not wanting to ruin it for those of you who have yet to read this series, I'm keeping silent on this answer.

My rating: 4 out of 5

From The TBR Pile #7

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'From The TBR Pile'. If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:

From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me, it's:

From Ashes
by
Molly McAdams

Aside from her dad, who passed away when she was six, Cassidy Jameson has only ever trusted one man: her best friend, Tyler. So of course she follows him to Texas when he leaves for college. She just didn't expect to be so drawn to their new roommate, Gage, a gorgeous guy with a husky Southern drawl. The only problem? He's Tyler's cousin.

Gage Carson was excited to share an apartment off campus with his cousin. He didn't mind that Tyler was bringing the mysterious friend he'd heard about since they were kids ... until the most beautiful girl he's ever seen jumps out of his cousin's Jeep. There's something about Cassi that makes Gage want to give her everything. Too bad Tyler has warned him that she's strictly off-limits.

Despite everything keeping them apart, Cassi and Gage dance dangerously close to the touch they're both been craving. But when disaster sends her running into Tyler's arms, Cassi will have to decide whether to face the demons of her past ... or to burn her chance at a future with Gage.

This book hasn't actually been sitting on my shelf, but it has been on my wish list to read for a while. Just aquired it through my local library. Looking forward to reading it.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
On your blog (and be sure to leave a link) tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
