Feature & Follow #81 ~ Book recommendations made to family and friends

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

This weeks question:

Have you ever convinced someone to read a book, a series, or a whole genre? What book(s) and who was it? Did they like it?

Sad to say, many of my friends and family do not read to the same extent as I do.
And when they do read, it is rarely in the same genre(s) I enjoy.
However, that doesn't mean I haven't recommended the odd book.
A couple of my favorites are:

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpartick
&
Easy by Tammara Webber

My Swoon for this week comes from:

Origin
(Lux #4)

by
Jennifer L. Armentrout

First - The Blurb:

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

Second - The Swoon(s):

Katy
"I am happy," I said, tracing my fingers over the curve of his cheek. "You make me happy."

His chin lowered, and he pressed his lips to the tips of each of my fingers. Under and all around me, his muscles tensed, and then he placed his mouth to my ear and whispered in a deep voice, "I want to make you really happy."

My heart fluttered. "Really happy?"

He dropped his hands to my outer thighs, his long fingers slipping under the material. "Exceedingly, insanely happy."

Daemon

Because having her in my lap, with the softest part of her pressed against the hardest part of me, was testing my self-control and had me turned on like no one in and beyond this world could.

Kat lifted her chin, her eyes locking with mine. Everything I needed to see, needed to believe in was in her eyes. "Yes."

This is one sweet moment between Katy and Daemon. Needless to say, things didn't end here.

I really love this series. Katy and Daemon are, without a doubt, one of my favorite book couples.

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

My Tease for this week comes from:

Never Forget

(Memories #1)

by
Emma Hart

First - The Blurb:

New Adult Contemporary Romance - Only intended for readers age 17+ due to sexual situations and strong language.

A city girl.
A small town boy.
A summer they'll never forget.

Spending the summer at her Grammy's in Lilac Bay, Devon, is city girl Alexis 'Lexy' Edwards' idea of hell. That is, until she reconnects with her childhood friend, Jen, and meets Alec Johnson.
Alec is the kind of guy Lexy knows she needs to stay away from. He's the village flirt, ridiculously hot and very dangerous to her self control. But there's a problem – she can't seem to keep him out, even though she knows he'll break her heart.
As Alec slowly strips away Lexy's defences and the two embark on a summer romance she never wanted, their feelings grow to more than either expected. But nothing lasts forever, and reality intrudes.
As her world is shaken to it's core, Lexy's self made prediction comes true when she discovers she's spent six weeks surrounded by secrets. Kept out by her family and the only guy she's ever trusted, she falls apart.
And when Grammy tells her that 'you might not end up where you wanted to be, but you'll always end up where you're meant to be,' she has to figure out if her meant to be is back home in London, or if it's been in Devon the whole time.

Second - The Tease(rs):

Tease 1

His lips are soft, like a silky rose petal, and they merge against mine in a perfection only seen in movies. He's gentle, ever so gentle, brushing his lips over mine again and again.
I reach up and wrap my arms around his neck, my fingers entwining in his hair. I want more, more than just a gentle kiss. I've had a taste of him, of heaven, and I don't know how to stop. All that exists in this second is him. Alec, the guy I'd vowed to stay away from.

Yeah, like those vows ever work.
Alec is one hot dude that Lexy finds hard to resist even though she knows she should.

Tease 2

"Nothing, nothing at all Princess," he says with a throaty laugh. "But Jen told me you're still a virgin and your first time isn't gonna be because I couldn't control myself. It's gonna be when you say so, where you say so, and how you say so. I want it to be something you'll remember because it was special, not because it's something you'll regret."

Alec is one considerate guy. I think this is one of the reasons why Lexy has such a hard time staying away from him.

Tease 3

I exhale sharply and shake my head against her. She's driving me crazy with every look, every touch, every kiss, and she doesn't even get the half of it. She doesn't understand just how much I want her.
She can't comprehend how much I want her. Hell, not even I can make sense of it. I just know that I do. Bad.

Alec and Lexy develop an attraction to each other pretty early in the book but it takes quite some time before either one of them finally acts on their feelings. Although this book has a slow start, it is an easy and enjoyable read.
