My Swoon for this week comes from:

Refuge
(Relentless #2)
by
Karen Lynch

First - The Blurb:

To keep the people she loved safe, Sara left everything she knew behind. She soon learns this new world is nothing like her old one, and she struggles to make a place for herself among the Mohiri. But it soon becomes apparent to Sara and to everyone one around her that she is not your typical warrior.

As the weeks pass, Sara builds new relationships, copes with her new trainers, and tries to manage her ever-changing powers, while keeping her unique heritage a secret. Looming in the background is the constant shadow of the Master who will do anything to find her.

Sara finds herself on a journey of self-discovery that uncovers her true strengths and awakens a part of her she never knew existed. She experiences the delight of new friendships, the sweetness and pain of first love, and a loss so deep it could be the thing that finally breaks her. At the end of it all, she discovers that the one place she was supposed to be safe might not be the refuge she thought it was.

Second - The Swoon:

Conscious thought fled when Nikolas's lips brushed mine. Warm and firm, his mouth explored mine with aching slowness and infinite tenderness as his hands framed my face, holding me against him. As if I had the strength to pull away. Sensations I had never felt before blossomed in my chest, and instead of trying to understand them, I sensed something indecipherable shift between us - like two repelling magnets that flip and are suddenly drawn to each other - and my lips parted to let my breath escape in a soft sigh. He pulled me closer, if that was possible, deepening the kiss, and I surrendered to it, exhilarated and terrified at the same time and never wanting it to end.

Oh my! This series just gets better and better.

Giving up her human life and entering the world of the Mohiri isn't easy for Sara, especially when she feels like the one person she has come to rely on, has abandoned her. Struggling to adapt to her new life, she spends much of her time training, only thing is, without allowing herself to connect with the demon living inside her, she isn't doing so well.

With her superiors finally deciding that there is only one person who can help her, Sara finds herself coming face to face with the one person she has tried hard not to think about. Nikolas! Like in the first book, there is a lot of tension between them as they each deal with feelings neither one of them has experienced before. Although I could see where things were heading, I loved watching the romantic side of their story unfold.

In this installment, it was nice to see some of the characters from the first book reappear (Nate, Rolland and Pete) and meet new ones (Desmund, Tristan and Jordan). With Sara still being hunted by the Master vampire, there are many action scenes and a few surprises.

Karen has created an amazing world and her writing is clear and easy to follow. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm loving this series.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

Waiting on Wednesday #33 ~ November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

November 9
by
Colleen Hoover

Expected publication: November 10th, 2015

This is a love story between a guy (me) and a girl (Fallon).
I think.
Can it even be considered a love story if it doesn’t end with love?
Mysteries end when the mystery is solved.
Biographies end when the life story has been told.
Love stories should end with love, right?
Maybe I’m wrong, then. Maybe this isn’t a love story. If you ask me…I’d say this might even be considered a tragedy.
Whatever it is—however it ends—I promised I would tell it. So without further ado.

Once upon a time…I met a girl.
The girl.

Since reading Maybe Someday, Colleen is one of my favorite authors, so yeah, why wouldn't I be waiting on this one.

What are you waiting for?

My Tease for this week comes from:

Relentless
(Relentless #1)
by
Karen Lynch

First - The Blurb:

Sara Grey’s world shattered ten years ago when her father was brutally murdered. Now at seventeen, she is still haunted by memories of that day and driven by the need to understand why it happened. She lives a life full of secrets and her family and friends have no idea of the supernatural world she is immersed in or of Sara’s own very powerful gift.

In her quest for answers about her father’s death, Sara takes risks that expose her and her friends to danger and puts herself into the sights of a sadistic vampire. On the same fateful night she meets Nikolas, a warrior who turns Sara’s world upside down and is determined to protect her even if it’s the last thing she wants.

Sara’s life starts to spin out of control as she is hunted by an obsessed vampire, learns that her friends have secrets of their own and reels from the truth about her own ancestry. Sara has always been fiercely independent but in order to survive now she must open herself to others, to reveal her deepest secrets. And she must learn to trust the one person capable of breaking down the walls around her.

Second - The Tease:

I don't think I've stomped off like that since I was five. Nikolas made me feel like throwing a tantrum; how could one person be so damn aggravating? But then a couple hundred years is plenty of time to learn how to piss people off.

OH. MY. GAWD. This was one awesome read. Right from the very first page, I got caught in the story and had a hard time putting it down.

For years, Sara has known that she is different, that the world around her consists of supernatural beings, and that her father's death was the result of a vampire attack. However, unable to share her knowledge with any of her human friends, she keeps everything she knows a secret until the night she meets Nikolas.

Nikolas is a vampire hunter - a Mohiri - half human, half demon. Following the trail of a particularly nasty vampire, he crosses Sara's path. As the demon inside of him senses the presence of the one inside of her, a connection is formed between them. After saving Sara from the vampire which threatens to kill her, Nikolas explains her true heritage - that she is a Mohiri, like him.

Finally having an understanding of who she is and where she came from, Sara steps up the search for her father's killer. Only, the closer she gets to discovering the truth, the more her life becomes in danger. Having appointed himself Sara's own personal guardian, Nikolas is there in almost every instance to save her.

I loved the angst between Sara and Nickolas, the way they butt heads each time they meet. Although there were no hot and heavy scenes in this installment, the tension between these two characters more than made up for it.

If you like a story filled with tension, paranormal beings and high impact action scenes, then this might be a series you might like to delve into.

My Rating: 5 out of 5

TBR Tuesday #95 ~ Flight (The Crescent Chronicles #1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Flight
(The Crescent Chronicles #1)
by
Alyssa Rose Ivy

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

I picked this one up from Amazon when it was free. I'm hoping to read it soon.

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Leave a comment and tell me what's waiting on your TBR pile.
